National public lands day — native seeding on the west side of the Kaibab
September 26–28, 2008
Overview
National Public Lands Day began in 1994 and has expanded year after year to become one of the largest organized volunteer days on a national scale. The Grand Canyon Trust Volunteer Program has teamed up with the Arizona Game and Fish for a weekend of an on-the-ground, restoration project. We are excited about our participation in this wonderful event to celebrate, restore, and conserve our public lands.
Volunteers are invited to join us on the Westside of the Kaibab Plateau for a weekend of reseeding native plants within the pinyon and juniper woodland ecosystem. These woodlands are home to an important wintering herd of mule deer and restoring their important forage plants will assist them through the harsh winters that occur on the Kaibab Plateau.![]()
